3D In-Vivo Measurement of Skin Topography Using Photometric Stereo

چکیده
Increased demand for treatment of skin wrinkles has led to a proliferation of different pharmaceutical and surgical treatment methods. However there still remains a lack of quantitative, objective, easily utilizable and reproducible wrinkle classification system by which these treatments can be studied and compared. We propose the use of a novel photometric stereo based technique as a potentially efficient and economical way for quantitative evaluation of skin topography. Also presented is an algorithm for improving depth estimates of skin using photometric stereo and Fractals based technique for quantification of skin topography which unlike existing 2D roughness parameters makes use of complete 3D topographical information.

In vivo measurement of skin microrelief using photometric stereo in the presence of interreflections.
This paper proposes and describes an implementation of a photometric stereo-based technique for in vivo assessment of three-dimensional (3D) skin topography in the presence of interreflections. The proposed method illuminates skin with red, green, and blue colored lights and uses the resulting variation in surface gradients to mitigate the effects of interreflections. Experiments were carried o...
متن کاملUse of photometric stereo for the accurate modelling of three-dimensional skin microrelief
The largest organ of human body ”skin” is a multilayered organ with complex reflectance properties that not only vary with the direction of illumination but also with the wavelength of light. The complex Three Dimensional (3D) structure and optical properties of human skin makes it very difficult for techniques like Photometric stereo to accurately recover its 3D shape. One problem in particula...

In paper industry, the measurement of paper surface topography is important for paper quality control. Noncontact and fast photometric stereo overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional surface topography measurement by the profilometer. In this paper, we present an improvement to three-light photometric stereo for paper surface topography reconstruction. Experiments comparing reconstructed ...

Human skin, the outer and largest organ covering our body, can be described in terms of both its 3D spatial topography and its 2D spectral reflectance. Such a characterization normally requires the application of separate procedures using different kinds of equipment, where spectral reflectance can only be obtained from a small patch of the skin surface. This paper investigates the integration ...
متن کاملA Photometric Stereo Using Re-Projected Images for Active Stereo Vision System
In optical 3D shape measurement, stereo vision with structured light can measure 3D scan data with high accuracy and is used in many applications, but fine surface detail is difficult to obtain. On the other hand, photometric stereo can capture surface details but has disadvantages, in that its 3D data accuracy drops and it requires multiple light sources. When the two measurement methods are c...
